About The Event

What does it mean for her to work at an AIDS Service Organization (ASO) because she cares?

Using spoken word performance, Because She Cares poetically “re-tells” the transnational journeys and temporal trajectories of HIV work as caring work for African, Caribbean and Black immigrant women (ACB women) living with HIV who are employed in Canadian ASOs. Based on findings from a qualitative study , Because She Cares illuminates the challenges ACB women face as racialized immigrant women employees living with HIV, and their ingenuity in strategizing ways of working that cares for them and their communities.
